PopUp Show + 🤎

Enjoying the Pace of Summer

Hello Kindred Spirit! Thank you again for having subscribed to my monthly newsletter. It’s so nice to connect!

I love the pace of summer. I get up with the sun, sit and read for a couple hours, tend to the garden and/or go for a run, plot out my daily to-do list, and then focus. Last year for several weeks, I had the luxury of skipping the planning, saving the mental energy that it takes. There was only one item on the list – paint the exterior of the house. All I had to think about was choosing my daily playlist, podcast, or audiobook. I didn’t even have to choose the color. We were grateful for the free 15 gallons of second-hand exterior paint that landed in our laps. (It was gunmetal grey.) This year, the bulk of my to-do list has been focused on art and I’m seeing the results of methodical planning.

I have work hanging in six exhibitions this month, plus donated work in a raffle to benefit the children of Gaza. I am thrilled to be knee deep in shows. Here’s more information on them:

  • Warwick Center for Fine Arts, Dimensions: Contemporary Fiber Arts, Warwick, RI; through 8/16
  • Gallery X, Public Xhibition 36, New Bedford, MA; through 8/23
  • Aplomb Gallery, Rising, Dover, NH; 8/8 - 9/30 (Opening Friday, August 8th, 5-8pm)
  • Nine-Eighteen-Nine Studio Gallery, Innovations in Fibers, Charlotte, NC; 8/9 - 9/27 (Opening Saturday, August 9th, 5-8pm)
  • 1100 County Street, River's Edge Pop-Up Art Show, Somerset, MA; Saturday, August 16th, noon-10pm
  • Boston City Hall, 6th Annual Exhibit of The National Arts Program, Boston, MA; 8/4 - 10/24 (Opening Thursday, August 28th, 5-7pm)

I am honored to be in each of these, but I am really looking forward to the pop-up show in Somerset on Saturday, August 16th. It will be held in an empty storefront. It’s a three-person show with Joel Mejias and Kevin Goff, who is my cousin and eying this location for his next tattoo/art studio. (It will be his third.) In addition to my paintings and art prints, I will have a limited number of pieces from my inventory of recycled Sterling silver jewelry available. The full details of the show – the artists, their work, and what’s available – are on this page of my website.

Earlier in the day, I will be drawing on pavement at the annual Onset Street Painting Festival, but I will be at the pop-up show from about 5pm to 10pm. If you are in or near the South Coast of Massachusetts, I would absolutely love to see you in person. Kevin, Joel, and I appreciate your support.

Until next time,
