This past week gave me hope for the future. I participated in my school’s graduation ceremony, which sent off our creative, smart, empathetic young adults out into the world. I drove by five No Kings protests, seeing seas of nonviolent citizen engagement. I attended my art opening at the Attleboro Arts Museum, with my piece winning a juror’s award and its image used in the press to promote the show. Alas today, my happy vibe has been taken down by the bombing of Iran. I imagine you are feeling the weight of this as well.
I plan to return to the Attleboro Arts Museum this week to see the other half of the show and linger in front of some of the pieces that I want to revisit. I didn’t have enough time at the opening. You can read more about the show and my artwork in this article from The Sun Chronicle.
If you are anywhere near Attleboro, MA — just north of Providence, RI — I encourage you to check it out in person. It’s entitled “Reign, Rain, Rein” and is up through July 11th. There are some gorgeous, thought-provoking pieces of work. Here is a list of their titles to give you an idea. While I’m there, I will be looking to reclaim some of the hope I had for humanity just a couple days ago.
If you go, I would love to hear about which pieces spoke to you.
Until next time,
