There’s nowhere I’d rather be than New England as we enter fall. The nights are crisp, the days are pleasant, and the trees begin to show hints of their warm tones as they prepare to shift into dormancy.

Nature invites us to function in cycles with the changing of the seasons, the phases of the moon, and sunrise and sunset. Each one offering the opportunity for renewal. We can explore something new or deepen our practice with something old.

Last month I participated in the annual Onset Street Painting Festival (Wareham, MA, USA) for the ninth time. The image I drew in pastels on asphalt was a sketch of cover art for an up and coming album. (Stay tuned for its release - pun intended.) Next month I will attend another chalk festival for the first time. I’ll be at Oktoberfest in Harvard Square (Cambridge, MA, USA) drawing on a square in the street.

There are street painting festivals around the world. If you've never been to one, I highly recommend seeking out one local to you. Regardless of if you draw or observe, the creative communal energy in the air is palpable. It’s a lovely feeling. At the end of the day or month or season, the chalk washes off the pavement and returns to the earth.

I am grateful to you for your interest in my work and in sustainable living.

Wherever you are, I wish that this weekend’s equinox brings you renewal and joy in the next season. What is something new you can try?

Until next time,
